About the Video

This is a compilation of the footage I shot when I was staying in Bhutan. I was not aiming to finish this as a complete work but instead, it records the natural atmosphere and the events I experienced while there. My main camera was an EOS R5 Mark II, but this compilation is a montage of clips I filmed with the PowerShot V1 during my free time with the intention of them being mementos of the trip.

Key Points / Highlights

Rather than composing scenes with a strong intention, sometimes I am not really particular about anything. I didn’t look for anything precise, but when I saw something I thought was good, I took photos to be able to keep the memories I wanted to preserve. I place importance on spontaneity and place, not over-creating a scene

How I used the PowerShot V1

I used the PowerShot V1 to take snaps while walking around. I set the shutter speed to between 1/50 and 1/100 and mainly used Av and Tv shooting modes, adjusting between ISO and F stops depending on the scene. I also made use of the smooth transitions achieved through zooming and utilised image stabilization to be able to shoot in an agile manner. I also incorporated vertical composition into the shoot.

First Impression of the PowerShot V1

I felt like this is a camera with which you can capture moments as you notice them. It gave me the impression of being able to keep the memories of what I saw, but on this external recording device. It was particularly impressive because it felt like I wasn’t setting up photos, rather I was just able to naturally record events that happened right before my eyes in order to preserve them. Its appeal is that even though it’s compact and easy to use casually, it takes high quality images.
