About the Video
This film follows Lisa on a road trip across the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Surrounded by wild roads, iconic mountains, and peaceful moments, she takes the time to slow down, reconnect with nature, and embrace the freedom that travel brings. A simple and authentic adventure through the heart of Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes.
Key Points / Highlights
During this production, we focused primarily on visual storytelling and emotion through the landscapes, allowing the imagery to guide the narrative. Special attention was given to natural light, camera movements while driving and hiking, as well as the editing pace to create a sense of freedom and disconnection.
How I used the EOS R6 V
I adopted a run-and-gun approach with a lightweight setup to stay mobile and capture spontaneous, authentic moments. I filmed in 4K using Canon Log 2 to achieve greater flexibility in post-production, while working directly in a 16:9 aspect ratio designed for video, rather than using the camera’s 7K 3:2 open-gate mode. The goal was to keep the process simple, efficient, and closely connected to the environment.
First Impression of the EOS R6 V
We were genuinely impressed by the camera. It is compact, lightweight, and very enjoyable to use in a run-and-gun setup. The ergonomics are intuitive, with controls that are easy to access. The 4K video quality is outstanding—among the best we have tested—and it performs very well in low light thanks to its two base ISO settings. Canon’s colors remain beautiful straight out of the camera, while Canon Log 2 provides excellent flexibility in post-production. Overall, it is a reliable and well-rounded camera with good battery life and a very cohesive user experience.
