Key Points / Highlights

For this shoot, we worked in extremely harsh environments and had to move between multiple locations, so mobility was essential. The crew needed lightweight, easy-to-handle equipment, but without compromising shooting performance. For sports-oriented content, we needed high-resolution high-speed capture, flexibility for a variety of specialized shooting angles, and strong compatibility with a wide range of accessories. Given the outdoor conditions, a certain level of weather sealing against dust, wind, and rain was also essential.

How I used the EOS R6 V

For this shoot, we mounted the camera on an FPV drone and also used a drone with a gimbal-mounted setup. For vehicle shots, we attached the camera to the car body using a suction mount,

First Impression of the EOS R6 V

For sports shooting, high-frame-rate performance is especially important to us. 4K 120fps is sufficient for most shooting scenarios, while the maximum 180fps makes it possible to clearly capture high-speed motion. We prefer uncropped wide-angle images, and this camera fit that requirement perfectly. Even in the intense heat of the desert, the camera’s heat dissipation performed very well, and we did not experience any overheating shutdowns during the shoot. For FPV aerial filming, lightweight design is essential. By removing the electronic viewfinder, the camera has a cleaner body shape with lower wind resistance, while remaining compact and easy to mount, making it suitable for demanding flight maneuvers. We were also impressed by the high-ISO image quality during night scenes. In our tests, ISO 6400 produced clean and clear images. It seems to use two base ISO settings, which was a pleasant surprise.
