About the Video
This is a 3D VR video featuring Karate and Kendo, shot with the EOS R6 V and RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE. Viewing the video via the YouTube app on a VR headset delivers a highly immersive experience, presenting a 180-degree 3D field of view that allows viewers to realistically perceive motion and distance. In addition, a 3D video created using the new 3D Theater output feature has also been produced.. The experience through a VR headset provides a natural sense of depth, making the performers appear as if they are right in front of you.
Key Points / Highlights
My primary focus was spatial movement. By encouraging the talents to utilize the entire environment, I aimed to prompt the viewer to actively twist and turn, maximizing the immersive potential of the VR medium.
How I used the EOS R6 V
While I initially planned locked-off shots using a vibration isolator, the Karate sessions produced tremors that exceeded the mount's limits. I adapted by switching to a handheld gimbal, utilizing my body as a secondary shock absorber for smooth footage. In contrast, the isolator performed perfectly for the Kendo shoot.
First Impression of the EOS R6 V
What I liked most was how the camera stayed out of the way. It’s lightweight enough to move with, and the menu system is really straightforward to navigate. It’s rare to find a system that feels this user-friendly while still delivering the professional performance I need on a fast-paced set.
